Todd Pruner
Sports Reporter for the Saint City News
Todd has been the sports reporter
at the Saint City News since August 2007. This is his first full-time
gig, but second job in St. Albert. He began freelancing at the St.
Albert Gazette in March 2007 and managed to jump ship over to SCN
during the summer.
Todd graduated from the Grant MacEwan College Journalism program
in 2006 after completing his practicum in Sturgeon County with the
Morinville Mirror/Redwater Tribune. He returned to school in the
Bachelor of Arts program in 2006-07 and worked at Intercamp, MacEwan’s
student newspaper. He was sports editor and covered the women’s
soccer team through their perfect regular season, the men’s
soccer team all the way to a national bronze medal in Burnaby, B.C.,
and both of the college’s basketball teams. After three years
in college however, he felt he was ready to move on and slide head-first
into the industry,
He loved Edmonton’s northern
neighbours and the break from big-city Edmonton, but there weren’t
nearly enough sports coverage for his liking so he jumped at the
chance to get into the St. Albert sports scene. Upon joining SCN,
Todd was excited at the chance to cover the brand-new St. Albert
Steel. When he’s not at a local rink, ball diamond or soccer/rugby
pitch near you, he enjoys reading, watching movies, going to concerts
and spending time with friends and family.
